Oh So Sweet Stevia!
Sweet, sweet stevia! This natural, no calorie, sweetener sounds too good to be true. So, we’re very excited because we just planted some stevia plants in our raised bed garden and stevia seeds in our hot house for the next succession of plants.
Native to Paraguay, the stevia plant has been used as a natural sweetener for centuries. Stevia leaves are loaded with healthy compounds and can be used to sweeten foods and beverages. Because stevia is not metabolized by the body, it is a good alternative for anyone watching their sugar intake. Cambria Soup Company has been working on (read: drinking ourselves) our low calorie version of our sparkling lemonades that will feature stevia with organic lemon juice and sparkling water for a lovely, bubbly dessert option!
We recommend using high quality whole leaf stevia to make teas, extracts & tinctures to obtain the most beneficial compounds and antioxidants.
