Growing Hemp is Legal in Kentucky

Hemp = Jobs

As big fans of hemp for so many reasons but especially using it for an extremely nutritious food, we are so happy to see this moving forward.  Kentucky will be the first state to re-legalize the growing of industrial hemp for the astounding number of uses it can provide; food, paper, clothing, fuel, building materials, even an organic weed control! Eric Steenstra, president of Vote Hemp, the nation’s largest hemp advocacy organization, said in a statement: “With the U.S. hemp industry valued at an estimated $500 million in annual retail sales and growing, a change in federal policy to once again allow hemp farming would mean instant job creation, among many other economic and environmental benefits.”

This seems like a great start towards revitalizing the U.S. production of one of the most resourceful and sustainable natural products on this planet.  We’re so excited, we’ve even started experimenting with hemp in our food so keep an eye out for some hemp-tacular soups, grilled cheese and ice creams!
